A ONE HOUR LECTURE WITH Q&A--- $550 IN-PERSON* OR $350 ZOOM

Trunk show

For groups local to Northern California, a classic trunk show always is a welcome program for so many groups, as there is really nothing to compare to seeing the work in person. My goal is to share my love of quilts, both the traditional hand appliqué quilts that I have made, but also my raw-edge fused work and even my interest in thread painting and mixed media.

Adapting an Image for an Art Quilt

Stemming from a life long interest in photography, and as I saw amazing art quilts derived from photographs, moving into raw-edge collage art quilts was for me a way to start to combine those interests and create work that has a photorealistic quality. That work has brought a new audience into the textile art world. This lecture describes the process with examples. For in-person lectures, I bring quilts to show.

Over the years I have had many people ask me, “how do you do water?” To answer that question, and for groups whose members are already into art quilting, this topic specific power point lecture is designed to focus on the topics of value and the ‘how to’s” of dyeing fabric to create both smooth (low visual texture) or fabric with more value changes. Use of media and quilting is also discussed.
